Black Sea (Mar nero) This is the moving story of the relationship between Gemma, recently widowed and unable to live alone, and Angela, a young Romanian who leaves her husband to come to Italy to work as a caregiver. Bitter and quick-tempered, Gemma is not easily accepting of the presence of Angela as her caregiver, but she is forced to accept as this is her best option. And yet over time the two women begin to develop a friendship, to the extent that when Angela's husband goes missing in Romania, Gemma considers how far she will go, how far she will travel to help her friend. A touching example of how true friendship overcomes the differences of age and culture. Winner at the Locarno International Film Festival of the Best Actress award for Ilaria Occhini.
