Matchmakers (Agente matrimoniale) Giovanni, a thirty-something Sicilian, somewhat introverted and with a dog phobia, is forced to leave Milan and return to Catania after losing his job. Despite having an excellent professional background, he decides to accept his only offer, made by a former university classmate, Filippo di Molfetta. The offer is to work for a matchmaking agency called "Non + Soli" ("No Longer Alone"), where Filippo has come up with his own approach to finding one's mate: the "Cyrano Method". The approach is based on coaching vulnerable candidates into matching the features desired by other applicants. Thus, staffers, farmers, retirees, transform into poets, sports enthusiasts, and jet setters. However, sometimes this method backfires, as Giovanni himself becomes one of its victims, resulting in his pairing with a woman who is a lover of dogs. So he has to portray himself as a veterinarian!
