Come Into The Light
(Alla luce del sole)

A powerful, moving story about the dedication and tenacity of doing public service against all odds. And a story which has received enthusiastic, high marks from viewers!

Based on the real life of Father Giuseppe "Pino" Puglisi, who was called upon by the Archbishop of Palermo to tend to the parish in his native Brancaccio district of that city, Father Puglisi was able to build a community center in less than two years. Aided by a group of young volunteers, he worked hard every day to try to save the lives of innocent children. Soon he understood that to make a dent in that disintegrating community, he needed to do more and give more. That meant that he would have to go up against the inertia of local powers. Inevitably his path will place him in a conflict with the Mafia.

Please note: the first approximately three minute prelude of this film contain scenes of violence to cats and dogs.

Nominated for seven awards and winner of four, including the David di Donaltello (Italian Academy Award) to Roberto Faenza, and the Best Actor and Audience Awards (Flaiano Film Festival) to Luca Zingaretti.
